Dojo Etiquette
  • Members should observe strict personal hygiene.
  • Aikidogi's must be kept clean.
  • The correct coloured belt should be worn at all times.
  • Hakama to be worn by Dan grades or any person approved by the club Coach/Instructor.
  • Zori should be worn to and from the tatami.
  • No jewellery should be worn on the tatami.
  • No make up to be worn on the tatami.
  • Long nails must be taped during practice.
  • White vests may be worn under the Aikidogi where appropriate.
  • Members must sit in grade order at the beginning and at the end of classes.
  • Members should ask permission to enter or leave the tatami.
  • Members should bow when entering or leaving the dojo.
  • Members to make the correct standing/sitting bow at the beginning and end of class or when changing partner.
  • Members should call the instructor "Sensei" in the dojo.
  • The senior grade is in charge until the instructor arrives.
  • There should be no excessive talking during practice.
  • There should be no smoking, drinking, eating or swearing in the dojo.
  • Anyone found to have partaken of alcohol or drugs prior to practice will not be allowed on the tatami.
